pelton who has been on the scene. >> fire crews have left the scene but the families tend to go back inside to salvage some of the items that did not burn. the family stated that they are devastated because they have all this home for 69 years. they watched the gold in flames. they stated that some other items that have burned are on their front yard as you can see on your screen. the fire crews responded before 2:00 a.m. this morning. they saw flames coming from the garage where they stated the fire started. the fire chief stated that it is an electrical fire. crews did get the fire under control but he stated that the installation made it tricky to fight. >> there are particles and a

wickes out and this caused a problem for us. we had to drop the whole selling to get the fire out. >> for people living inside the home and they were inside when the fire broke out. it is a husband, wife, and their two children. the husband stated that his wife woke up and heard something and saw the flames and woke everyone else in doubt the most safely. unfortunately, they have families to stay with but again they tell me this they're extremely devastated. >> the america's cup race will go on but not without new safety recommendations. the changes come two weeks after an experienced sailor died in san francisco bay while training for the race. kron 4 urs will tran is liven san francisco to tell

the mayor glenn lewis says that he will propose an ordinance to require all new homes to have storm shelters. president obama will travel to and moore on sunday. the powerful twister killed 24 people, including 10 children, and tore through as many as 13,000 homes, schools and hospitals. >> the tremendous task of cleaning up the damage left behind by monday's tornado in oklahoma has begun. the city of moore called for volunteers to help clean up a cemetery at a local church. community members showed up in droves, raking garbage and cleaning debris by hand. dump trucks lined up ready to take the debris away. oklahoma city mayor says that early estimates muspull losses at 1.5 and $2

>> welcome back. we are watching the markets this morning. after a major global sell-off, hardest hit, the nikkei in and japan is down 7%. that would be like the dow dropping over a thousand points. the dow dropped almost 1% yesterday, right now dow futures are down 100 points. they were down even more earlier. the federal reserve took financial markets for a ride on wednesday, pushing stock prices up in the

morning then sending them down and afternoon. >> here is a look at the close of numbers. the dow jones close as the day down 80 points, closing at 15,307. the nasdaq closing at 3463. losing 38 points. the s&p 500 fell 13 points closing at 1655. will be watching the stock market all morning long here on kron 4 morning news. >> boy scouts of america is a national leadership will vote today on whether to allow openly gay scouts in its ranks. this is a decision on the critical issue for one of the nation's oldest you organizations. about 1400 national council members will vote on the band of youths calls for being openly gay. a ban on gay adult leaders would remain in place. the results are

sunshine to go or around. the temperatures are on the cooler side. napa will be coming in at 71 degrees. we will see a 7 degree change in san jose and the same goes for concord. currently, we are in the 40's. it is 41 degrees in napa up and 49 out the door in oakland. it is certainly a chilly start and in addition we will also have when in the forecast. it is breezy conditions for the afternoon. in terms of future cast 4 we will see a few spots of yellow showing where the '70s will occur. that will start to fill in. >> in terms of the evening

weapons. >> jurors in the penalty phase of the jodi arias trial say that they are dead locked. after several hours of deliberations yesterday, they told a judge that they cannot come to a unanimous decision. the judge ordered the jury to try and to the livermore and the hopes of breaking the deadlock. deliberations will resume this morning, but if the deadlock kohl's, a different jury will be chosen. she was convicted of killing her former boyfriend in 2008. >> a new report by the centers for disease control and prevention shows that there has been a big drop in teen birth rates. some experts called the findings

startling. nearly all states in the united states show significant drops in teen pregnancies over five years. the lowest teen birth rates are in new hampshire, massachusetts, connecticut and vermont. the highest continue to be in the south, led by arkansas and mississippi. experts believe the explanation is complicated and probably there is a bit from state to state. >> californians will get their first look at the health plans to be offered through the state's new insurance exchange and how much that coverage will cost them. colt covered california " is expected to announce the plan today. the goal of the exchanges offer individuals and small businesses a choice of private health-care plans similar to what workers a large companies already receive. an estimated 5.3 million californians will be able to purchase insurance through cover california. >> burgeon america topped

the wheels can fall off. the company says the recall affects the 2013 cadillac as are ex with 18 in. wheels. safety regulators say that the wheel nuts may not be tight enough at the factory. general motors says the problem has not caused any crashes or injuries. so far, no wheels have fallen from vehicles. dealers will rotate the tires and tighten the nuts at no cost to owners. the recall affects 19,000 that are in the united states. >> another recalled to tell you about this morning, nissan is recalling 841,000 vehicles as a result of a steering wheel glitch. nissan is recalling certain models of the "micra " compact car that was made between 2002 and 2006. the bolt used to the steering

wheel of the car may not have been properly tightened and at worst, the steering will may not function. no accidents, injuries or deaths have been reported. nissan say that that will fix the glitch by either tightening the bolts or replaew o. >> electric car company, and tesla, says it has paid back a government loan nine years early. the palo alto based company received a $45 million loan in january 2010. strong first quarter profits and their profinear pert ratings from consumer reports sent the company's stock soaring. as a result, the company sold more than their share and its founders made a new $100 million investment. the company say

terrifying moments when the tornado hit in oklahoma. two teachers are being called heroes after they sheltered students from the twister. lynne breton and jessica orr are still shaken as the talk about what happened. when this mass of tunnel struck, they huddled with 25 kids inside bathroom at briarwood elementary school. as the roof was torn off and the ceiling caved in on the bathroom, breton reassure the kid said they will be okay. she covered two kids with her body and just hope for the best. >> in my mind, i was praying. >> president obama is
